At Two Hands Paperie we invite you to join us for talks by guest artists, and to learn about new techniques and materials that we are introducing in the store. Our FREE events are just that…FREE. Please note that in some instances space at these events is limited. Please contact the store to RSVP and reserve a space. Many of the events are informal; stop in for a few minutes or stay for the entirety. Be sure to show up a few minutes early to ensure a front and center seat and to glean the most information. Please contact the store if you have specific questions.

Creative Play Date
Come to Two Hands Paperie the first Wednesday of the month to hang out with other creative types such as yourself. Bring a project, a question, or an idea to work on along with your own materials and tools. Take advantage of the inspiration that working in the Paper Room at Two Hands will offer you.

Art Journal Join-In
If you’re drawn to a journal full of color and life, come work alongside visual journaling lovers like you and play! Drop in between 1:00 and 4:00 to work in your own journal and share visual art journaling techniques and tips. Bring your own supplies and your journal to work in, and join in this free afternoon of art journaling! One Friday per month, 1:00-4:00 pm

Visiting Artist Series
Two Hands Paperie brings local artists from their studios to the shop! Each artist sets up a temporary studio space in the Paper Room at Two Hands Paperie. Please drop in and visit with them as they show their work and explain their creative processes and muses. Ask questions, and get to know some of the artists in our creative community. Join us at this informal platform to meet with creative minds that will inspire you!

Friday, January 24- 2-5pm FREE – Jill Powers – Environmental Art Jill Powers creates environmental and mixed media fiber art with a natural material known as Kozo. The most common of the Japanese papermaking fibers, Kozo, comes from the inner bark of the paper mulberry bush and it is sustainably grown and harvested annually. Jill’s laborious process includes cooking, opening, casting, painting, and stitching kozo fibers into abstract sculptures and installation pieces. Jill teaches and practices in Boulder, Colorado, and you can see more of her process and artwork at jillpowers.com.

Friday, February 7 – 2-5pm FREE- Jill Berry – Mixed Media & Maps Jill Berry is an artist, author, explorer, and mapmaker. She lives and works in Superior, Colorado, writing books, teaching classes, and blogging about her latest ideas and experiences. Friday, March 7 – 2-5pm FREE- George Peters and Melanie Walker – Aerial ArtGeorge Peters & Melanie Walker have been collaborating since 1995 to create public works of art locally, nationally, and internationally. Their kites, aerial sculptures, and public art installations are sure to amaze and delight! “It has always been our wish to make the works have a voice and character that uplifts and reflects the positive aspects of human vision.” You can view George and Melanie’s large scale, community pieces, as well as their other projects at their website: airworks-studio.com.

Spring Cherry Blossom Celebration & Craft Night

We’re celebrating spring this year with a large, paper cherry blossom window installation, and you are invited to help in keeping the West End of Pearl Street beautiful! Join us to learn how to create paper cherry blossom that will be used in the front window display at Two Hands Paperie. Walk away with a new paper crafting skill while enjoying time with your Boulder creative community. Snacks will be served!

Paperswell Magazine Release Party
Paperswell is an annual art magazine written for the devotee of paper goods, beautiful invitations, event planning and hand-written correspondence. Join us to celebrate the release of their 2014 issue. A portion of each sale goes toward Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies.

Summer Musings: Creative Postcard Submissions Call for Art Submissions!
Sum up your summer adventures by mailing in a postcard(s) of your “Summer Musings” using any 2-D medium on a postcard no larger than 4 ¼”x 6” (no envelope please!). Create a mini masterpiece or multiple masterpieces of the tastes, smells, adventures, and memories from your 2014 summer adventures. In honor of true postal correspondence, hand-delivered postcards will not be accepted. All postcards will be shared on social media outlets and displayed in the shop through August 31, 2014. Postcards will not be returned. All postcards will be housed in a custom portfolio box and donated to Special Collections in Norlin Library at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

With our hands on demonstration, you will learn a quick way to create and decorate paper lanterns for your summer events.

If you have been saving a box of paper scraps and you just don’t know what to do with them, stop in for a creative way to use small pieces of paper to create beautiful hanging butterflies. We will show you how to cut, fold, and string these colorful paper creations, and you will walk away with a butterfly to adorn your home or next wrapped package.

As much as we love fresh, crisp paper from the rack, finding ways to upcycle used materials thrills us too! Join Two Hands Paperie as we show you how paper headed to the recycle bin can be slightly altered to either embellish ordinary stationery or become a stationery set itself! Leave with several pieces of your own stationery, hand crafted by you.
